The 2008 AUKML Conference

Information professionals Adding Value

The AUKML 2008 Conference theme concerns how librarians and information professionals add value to their employers' businesses. Our programme will give delegates up-to-date knowledge and skills, and the confidence and techniques to assist their users and to demonstrate their expertise to managers. It is also an excellent training, current-awareness and networking event. The conference is open to anyone with an interest in this important topic.

Venue: The Palace Hotel, Manchester, Friday 18th April - Sunday 20th April 2008
The Palace Hotel is an historic grade II listed building full of character located in the heart of Manchester. It has recently had a major refurbishment to bring the rooms up to today's high four star standards. It is located close to a host of stylish and elegant bars, clubs and restaurants.

The NWFA cares for over 31,000 items from the pioneer days of film in the mid 1890s to video production of the present day. The work of both the professional and the amateur is collected and it is a powerful record of modern urban society. Delegates will watch a presentation from curators including an introduction to their work and a viewing of their collection's highlights

One of the most talked about Museums in Britain today, the Imperial War Museum North is about how lives have been and still are shaped by war and conflict. The award-winning building by international architect Daniel Libeskind is a symbol of our world torn apart by conflict.
